Recently, I stumbled upon a fascinating study how different generations view salary expectations.

A survey by Empower involving over 2,200 participants revealed some eye-opening insights about salary expectations.

Imagine my surprise to learn Gen Z believes they need nearly $587,000 annually to feel successful, while we baby boomers set our bar much lower at just around $99,000.

But here’s the real kicker: the average salary across all age groups is actually just over $60,000 – a stark contrast to these lofty expectations.

What struck me most wasn’t just the numbers, but the underlying story.

Having conducted research on generational workforce differences myself, I’ve come to realize that success means something fundamentally different to each generation.

For Gen Z, growing up during challenging economic times seems to have shaped their perception of financial security.

For us, it was a more stable era.  We learned true wealth isn’t always about the number on a paycheck.

I also discovered something profound in my own journey: as I age, I have become less materialistic.

Where once I might have chased material possessions, now I find joy in experiences and memories.
