Rediscovering My Passion For Photography in Retirement

Let me share a story about rediscovering my passion for photography.

Do you ever wonder what happened to those passions that once ignited your soul? I certainly did, and my journey with photography tells a story that might resonate with you.

As a troubled teenager, I found my first real connection in a photography class. When other teachers had written me off, my photography instructor saw potential in me.

This single opportunity changed my trajectory.  By 19, I had completed a two-year degree in photojournalism and was freelancing for newspapers and magazines.

Then life happened. I moved to Silicon Valley where journalism and photography jobs were pretty much non-existent.

As a result, banking became my entry point, followed by technology, where I remained for 25 years until 2015.

During those decades, my camera collected dust, and photography faded from my life.

It wasn’t until after leaving corporate America to pursue coaching that I rediscovered this forgotten passion. Needing a camera for my YouTube channel, I purchased a Canon M50.

What began as a practical necessity awakened something dormant within me. The familiar elements of photography came flooding back, now enhanced by exciting digital capabilities.

As my skills and enthusiasm grew, so did my equipment.

Today, photography has become my primary passion, perfectly complementing my YouTube channel’s purpose and my new beginning into retirement.
